The Bobcats are going for their first season series sweep of Baylor since the 1988 season. That season, Texas State beat the Bears in both ends of a doubleheader, 3-1 and 4-0.
Winning Streak
The Bobcats are currently on a seven-game winning streak, the team's longest since the 2009 season when Texas State rattled off 12 consecutive wins.
Mid-Major Poll
Texas State moved up six spots in the College Baseball Daily Mid-Major Poll to No. 5 after going 4-0 last week. The Bobcats are one of three Southland Conference teams in the poll with Southeastern Louisiana coming in at No. 8 and Sam Houston State at No. 24.
Pitcher of the Week
Carson Smith was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 1-6 after turning in a dominant performance against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Smith tied his career high with 10 strikeouts while not allowing an earned run as he defeated the Islanders 5-3 to open the weekend series. The junior right-hander from Midland, Texas (Midland Christian), pitched seven innings while allowing just four hits and one walk to earn his first victory of the season. He also lowered his season ERA to 2.63.
Big Win
Texas State handed No. 16 Baylor its worst loss in two seasons as the Bobcats defeated the Bears, 13-2, in Waco on March 1. The win for Texas State was its fourth in the last six meetings against Baylor.
