Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas – The two teams tied for first place in the Southland Conference will meet this weekend in San Marcos when the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks come to Bobcat Ballpark for a three-game series against Texas State. Game one of the three-game set will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday before the teams play at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Both teams enter the weekend with an 8-1 record in Southland Conference play. The Bobcats (17-7) swept SLC series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Sam Houston State while taking two-of three against Lamar. The Lumberjacks (19-7) swept Central Arkansas and Northwestern State before winning two-of-three against Nicholls last weekend.

Texas State is coming off an 11-inning, 3-2 loss against Missouri on Wednesday which dropped the team's record to 11-4 at home this season. SFA, which is 5-4 in road games this season, defeated TCU, 4-3, in Fort Worth on Wednesday.

The Bobcats plan to start Carson Smith (3-1, 1.80 ERA) on Friday, Lee Colon (1-2, 2.78) on Saturday and Colton Turner (5-0, 3.18) on Sunday. The Lumberjacks plan to start Tyler Herriage (1-2, 4.50) on Friday, Jared West (4-1, 2.89) on Saturday and Zack Taylor (3-1, 1.56) on Sunday.

Texas State has won four of the last five games that the two teams have played and lead the all-time series, 37-18.
