Game Notes

San Marcos, Texas –
The Texas State baseball team will face arguably its toughest test to this point in the 2011 season on Tuesday when the Bobcats head up I-35 for a matchup with No. 5 Texas. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Texas State will send senior, left-handed pitcher Lee Colon (1-1, 4.38 ERA) to the mound for his fourth start of the season, while the Longhorns will counter with freshman southpaw Kirby Bellow (0-0, 18.00 ERA) who makes his first career start.

Entering the midweek match, the Bobcats (12-3) have won nine of their last 10 games, including a three-game sweep of Houston last weekend. Meanwhile, Texas (11-5) won three-of-four over the weekend against visiting Brown.

Texas State's offense has been clicking of late as the team has scored 10-or-more runs in six of its last nine games. Leading a balanced lineup is junior Tyler Sibley, the reigning Southland Conference Hitter of the Week. Sibley is hitting a team-high .448 this season with three home runs, 10 RBIs, 20 runs scored and seven stolen bases from his leadoff spot.

The Longhorn offense has surpassed 10 runs twice so far this season and is led by Erich Weiss who is hitting .415 with four triples, one home run and 16 RBIs this season.

Fans unable to attend the game can follow live coverage though www.TxStateBobcats.com. Live audio of the game will be streamed in addition to live stats. The Texas athletic website will also have live video available at www.texassports.com/allaccess. Fans in the Austin and San Marcos area can tune into 1300 AM to hear the action.
