Tournament Notes

San Marcos, Texas
– The Texas State softball team will open its 2011 season in Manoa, Hawaii for the Oceanic Time Warner Paradise Classic. The four-team tournament will see the Bobcats paired up against Hawai'i, UC Davis and Southern Utah. All four teams are opening their season at the tournament.  

 

Texas State will face UC Davis in its first game on Thursday, Feb. 10. This will be the first meeting between the two teams. First pitch is slated for 8 p.m. CT.

 

The Bobcats will play Southern Utah on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. CT in their second game of the tournament. The two teams last played each other in 1994, where Texas State won, 7-0.

 

Texas State returns to the field in the night cap to face host #13/#8 Hawai'i at 11 p.m. CT. Hawai'i enters the 2011 season off a successful 2010 season that landed the 'Bows in the World Series. The Bobcats last faced the 'Bows in 2006, where they fell 2-1.

-Texas State will play its season opener in the Aloha State for the second time in six years.

- Texas State last competed against Hawai'i in 2006 in the Paradise Classic. The Bobcats finished 3-3 in the tournament.  

- This will be the first meeting between Texas State and UC Davis.

- Texas State returns two-time Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year Chandler Hall.

- Both junior Chandler Hall and senior Jenna Emery were named to the SLC Preaseason First-Team.

- Texas State was picked win the Southland Conference title, along with Stephen F. Austin.

-Four Bobcats enter 2011 with hit streaks rolling over from last season.

- 2010 was the first year Texas State opened its season with a win since 2006 when it beat Southern Mississippi, 9-0, at the Paradise Classic.
