Texas State Softball Bows Out of Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Al.,– Texas State softball's time in the 2025 Sun Belt Tournament came to an end in the quarterfinals after a 2-0 loss to James Madison.

How it Happened:
Maddy Azua started in the circle for the Bobcats and would allow one run on two hits in the first inning. The Dukes scored their first run of the game after a leadoff hit by pitch and a pair of singles with a fly out in-between them. Azua would escape the inning with just the one run against her, though, as the Dukes stranded two runners.

Sydney Harvey led the Bobcats off with a single to left center and Aiyana Coleman was intentionally walked. The pair would be left stranded, though.

James Madison added a run to their tally in the top of the third off a lead off solo home run from Peyton List. Head coach Ricci Woodard opted to bring in Emma Strood to pitch at that point. She'd allow a double to right, but get out of the inning without allowing any runs.

Both sides were retired in order in the 4th.

In the 5th, Strood again gave up a single, but the Dukes didn't add any runs to their total. Karmyn Bass singled up the middle as the Bobcats leadoff in the 5th, but she'd be stranded on base.

Through the 6th, neither side added any runs, and the Bobcats were retired in order. The Dukes were also retired in order in the top of the 7th.

Megan Kelnar ground out and was followed by a Ciara Trahan strikeout in the bottom of the 7th. Karmyn Bass was walked, but she was followed by a Mel Reeves strikeout to end the game.
