San Marcos, Texas – Texas State volleyball will seek its first-ever victory in NCAA Championships play on Friday, December 2 when the Bobcats head to Gregory Gymnasium in Austin for a first-round match against top-seeded Texas. First serve of the match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Bobcats (27-7, 15-1 SLC) are making their eighth NCAA Championships appearance and fifth consecutive trip to Austin for the national tournament. In their last meeting, Texas State and Texas played in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Championships with the Longhorns winning in three sets. Entering this year's tournament, Texas State has won 18 of its last 19 matches and earned both Southland Conference regular season and tournament championships.
Texas (22-4, 15-1 Big 12) earned the top seed in the tournament after capturing the Big 12 championship and winning their last 14 matches.
The winner of the match between Texas State and Texas will advance to play the winner of the Michigan State/Arizona match. The NCAA second-round game will be played at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Gregory Gymnasium.
