SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
- Texas State is most recently coming off a Wednesday night victory over Texas A&M, marking the first Bobcat victory over an SEC opponent in program history. The attendance at the Bobcat Soccer Complex slotted in at number six all-time in the single match attendance category, with 873.
- Senior Victoria Meza recorded a second consecutive brace versus Texas A&M, including the game-winner in the 87th minute. The senior is one of two players in the country with two braces and ranks second nationally in goals scored (Bella Devey, UNC).
- A Bobcat team that just set a program record in assists a year ago (45) continued the trend early in 2026, with a Pac-12-best 10 total and seven versus UTRGV alone. Assists are one of three categories the Bobcats lead the conference in, with the other two being total goals (9) total points (28).
SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Baylor opened the season with a statement win versus then-No. 10 Arkansas, by a 4-1 final score in Fayetteville. It was Arkansas' worst home loss since 2011 after finding the net three times in the second half.
- The Bears increased its six-game unbeaten streak against SEC foes when they too handed the Aggies of Texas A&M a loss in Baylor's home opener, by a 2-1 final score.
- United Soccer Coaches released its first 2026 top-25 DI coaches poll on Tuesday, Aug. 18, landing Baylor in at a national No. 6 ranking.
ALL-TIME VS. BAYLOR
- Texas State has never beaten Baylor in eight all-time matches between the two programs in the record books. The Bears lead the series 6-0-2 in matches dating back to 2002. Of the eight matches in history, the teams have met twice in the NCAA Tournament, resulting in Baylor advancing in the first round in 2011, and again just a season ago in 2025. Both matches were held in Waco.
- The two in-state schools have played to a draw twice. The 2024 regular season match-up saw Helen Alormenu tie the contest with 11 seconds left on the clock in her collegiate debut. The only other draw came in the 2008 season.
- Baylor leads the matches played in Waco 4-0-1.
