SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State catcher Clayton Namken has been named a Perfect Game Freshman All-American following an outstanding debut season for the Bobcats in 2026. One of the top freshman catchers in the nation, Namken emerged as a key contributor on both sides of the ball while helping Texas State post a 37-26 record and an NCAA Regional appearance.

Namken appeared in 51 games with 47 starts during his freshman campaign, batting .310 with 54 hits, 10 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs. He drove in 34 runs, scored 31 times and posted a .403 on-base percentage and .580 slugging percentage while ranking among the team's top offensive performers.

The New Braunfels, Texas, native recorded 16 multi-hit games and delivered consistent production throughout the season, collecting extra-base hits in 20 contests.

Defensively, Namken was equally impressive behind the plate. He finished the season with a .993 fielding percentage, committing just three errors in 453 total chances. Namken recorded 406 putouts and 44 assists while helping guide the Bobcat pitching staff throughout the season. He also threw out nine would-be base stealers.
