POINT CLEAR, ALABAMA – The Texas State women's golf team finished out action at the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Championship in the Match Play Finals and earned runner-up honors in its final appearance at the event.
The afternoon match saw the No. 3 seeded Bobcats face off with No. 1 ULM, a pairing of the top two teams in the league coming into the tournament. After trading points to open the final at Matches 1 and 3, TXST dropped Match 2 and needed to secure victories at 4 and 5 for the win. Ultimately, Match 4 went 1Up to the Warhawks to win the championship, 3-1.
The Bobcats qualified for the Match Play Semifinals by way of a third-place finish in stroke play and swept No. 2 South Alabama, 3-0, thanks to victories from
Briana LeMaire (5&4),
Grace Quintanilla (2&1) and
Fia Lindblom (6&5). Matches featuring
Mana Hersperger and
Yvonne Chamness went unfinished with neither trailing.
Quintanilla (72-70-72--214) led the Bobcats in stroke play, earning all-tournament team honors after finishing tied for fifth at -2 in her first Sun Belt Conference Tournament action.
Texas State will now wait for a possible NCAA Regional team or individual selection to extend its season. The Bobcats are currently ranked No. 54 in the Division I rankings. The NCAA Women's Golf Regionals selection show airs live on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, April 29 at 3 p.m. CT.
