Bobcats Return Home for Matches Against SEMO and Lamar

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State women's tennis returns home this weekend to host a pair of matches at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

The Bobcats will face Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) on Sunday at 1 p.m. before hosting Lamar on Monday at 10 a.m. Texas State is undefeated at home this season, posting a 3-0 record at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

Texas State enters the weekend looking to rebound after back-to-back road losses to North Texas (4-2) and FIU (4-1). Prior to those setbacks, the Bobcats had won six consecutive matches.

SEMO travels to San Marcos with a 6-9 record this season. The Redhawks have recorded wins over Northern Iowa, Drake, Missouri–St. Louis, Tennessee Southern, Belmont and most recently Western Kentucky.

The Redhawks have been led by sophomore Mia Mayerova and junior Sofia Zemtsova. Mayerova holds a 13-8 singles record this season, while Zemtsova is 13-10. SEMO enters the match with a 4-5 record in road contests.

Texas State and SEMO met for the first time in program history last season, with the Bobcats earning a 4-0 victory to take a 1-0 lead in the all-time series.

Lamar enters the weekend with a 6-5 record following back-to-back conference losses to McNeese and Southeastern Louisiana. The Cardinals will play at UIW in San Antonio on Saturday before traveling to San Marcos for Monday's matchup. Earlier this season, Texas State defeated UIW 7-0.

The Cardinals opened the year with a four-match winning streak, earning victories over Sam Houston (4-2), Jackson State (6-1) and Lubbock Christian twice (4-1).

Lamar is led by sophomores Luana Paiva and Asta Miettinen. Paiva enters the match on a four-match winning streak and holds an 8-2 singles record while competing primarily on courts two and three. Miettinen carries a three-match winning streak with a 5-3 record on courts three and four.
