Dankuru, Hayes Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

SAN MARCOS, Texas— Texas State track and field will send two men's high jumpers to the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships following record-breaking performances at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships.

Senior Aiden Hayes and freshman Tshephang Dankuru are the lone Bobcats to qualify for the national meet after both cleared 2.22 meters (7 feet, 3.25 inches) at the conference championships, breaking the Sun Belt Indoor Championship meet record in the men's high jump.

Hayes and Dankuru tied for first place and each earned a gold medal, delivering one of the most dominant high jump performances in conference championship history.

Their marks rank among the top performances in the nation this season, as Hayes and Dankuru are tied for the seventh-best mark in the country.

Hayes will make his second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships after also qualifying last season. He finished 12th nationally in 2025 with a best clearance of 2.11 meters.

Dankuru, competing in his first collegiate season, has emerged as one of the conference's breakout performers, earning a national qualifying mark at the Sun Belt indoor championship.

The 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place March 13–14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where Hayes and Dankuru will represent Texas State against the nation's top collegiate athletes.
