SAN MARCOS, Texas – A two-home run day for
Rashawn Galloway powered Texas State (14-8, 2-3 Sun Belt) to a series clinching 11-4 victory over 25-ranked Louisiana (16-7, 2-3 Sun Belt) Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Ballpark.

Galloway finished the day 3-for-4 with six RBI and was hit by a pitch. His RBI total is the most by a Bobcat in two seasons.

Manny Salas went 2-for-4 with three RBI with two of them coming on a home run. Also finishing with two base knocks in the contest was
Ethan Farris and
Austin Munguia, both of whom also scored twice.

Picking up the win on the mound was
Cade Smith (1-0). The right-hander threw 4.2 scoreless innings, struck out seven and allowed just two hits. Andrew Herrmann (3-1) allowed seven runs on five hits and recorded five strikeouts in five frames to take the loss.

Sam Hall started and threw a season-high 4.1 innings. He finished with a strikeout while surrendering four runs on seven hits.

The Ragin' Cajuns struck first with a run in the first on a single from Rigoberto Hernandez. They would add to their advantage thanks to a two-run homer from Drew Markle in the third.

In the bottom of the frame, Farris reached base on a fielding error by the shortstop and Munguia singled to left. With two gone, Galloway sent a 2-1 pitch just over the left field wall to tie the game.

Louisiana retook the lead in the fifth on sac fly.

The next half inning saw the first two TXST batters be set down in order. Munguia would lace a 3-2 pitch down the third baseline for a double. Following a walk to
Jackson Cotton, Galloway blasted a 1-0 offering 417 feet over the left centerfield wall to give Texas State a 6-4 lead.

Salas added to the lead with an RBI single in the sixth that plated
Chase Mora.

The Bobcats put the game away in the seventh with a four-run frame. Half of the runs came on a home run off the bat of Salas that landed in the netting just to the right of the left field foul pole.
Brady Boles added an RBI single and
Dawson Park scored on a wild pitch.

Sunday's series finale is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
