Box Score 2 SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Softball started its series with Southeastern Louisiana by splitting the day, dropping game one 4-0 and bouncing back to win game two 1-0.
The Bobcats lone run of the day was a solo home run by
Aiyana Coleman, her fifth of the season. Her shot to left field was enough for Texas State to earn the win with a shutout effort from
Emma Strood and
Chesney Davis.Â

Maddy Azua started in the circle and tossed the complete game against the Lions, allowing four runs on 10 hits. She started the game with three strikeouts, though, sandwiched around two singles.
Texas State got its first hit of the game on a
Harley Vestal single, but she and
Aiyana Coleman who walked were left stranded.
Southeastern Louisiana led off the 2nd inning with a solo home run to left center, then followed that up with a single and a two-run home run to make it a 3-0 ball game. From there, Azua added two more strikeouts.
Megan Kelnar recorded her first triple of her career in the bottom of the 2nd, but was left stranded after a pair of ground outs.
Both sides were retired in order in the third. Texas State got runners on base in the 4th, but a double play would end the inning.Â
Both sides continued to put runners on, but it took until the 6th inning for another run to be scored, this time a RBI single who scored their lead off runner who had gotten on by an error.
Texas State was unable to score in the 7th, and would fall 4-0.

Emma Strood started in the circle for the afternoon game, tossing five innings and striking out two batters while allowing six hits.
Chesney Davis came in in the 6th inning to close the game out, allowing just one hit in the batters she faced.Â
The lone run of the night for the Bobcats came on the third batter up with a 244 foot shot to left field from Coleman. Her fifth home run of the season leads the team in the category and ultimately gave her team the win against the Lions.
From there, Strood continued to pitch effectively. She gave up just four more hits in her final four innings while striking out two batters. The Bobcat defense showed out as well, turning a double play to kill the Lions' momentum.
Texas State had runners in scoring position again in the fifth but were left stranded after strikeouts from Texas State.
Davis came in to pitch in the sixth after a lead off single, the Bobcats turned another double play and got a ground out to keep the game scoreless.
Davis allowed her lone hit in the 7th, but the Bobcats turned their third double-play of the night to get the first two outs, and the game ended on a ground out to second base.
After today's two games, Texas State is now 11-7 on the season.

Texas State will stay home for a single game against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 3 pm inside Bobcat Softball Stadium.
