NEW ORLEANS – For the third time this season, Texas State's
Yvonne Chamness has been named the Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week, league officials announced Thursday. Chamness also earned nods during weeks one and five, giving TXST more weekly honors than any other institution in the SBC.
The senior started the spring portion of the 2025-26 schedule strong, finishing third at the Texas State Invitational to help the Bobcats to the team championship. Chamness went 6-under at the event and was one of five TXST players to finish in the top 10. At the Texas Golf Throwdown, Chamness capped off back-to-back top 10 finishes, leading the Bobcats to a fourth-place finish tying for eighth place.
Chamness has now led TXST in three of six tournaments, which includes four top 10 finishes this season, and has a team-best 71.1 adjusted scoring average. Her nine rounds in the 60s pace the Bobcats as do her 13 rounds even or under par. She also leads TXST with all 18 of her rounds counted toward the team score.
The Bobcats are back in action February 23-24 staying in Texas for the Chevron Collegiate hosted by Houston at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble.
