FRESNO, Calif. – Texas State (9-4-4, 2-3-2 Pac-12) needs a victory for a chance at the inaugural Pac-12 Women's Soccer Tournament when it meets Fresno State (1-14-3, 0-6-1 Pac-12) on Thursday night.
Fans can watch live on the Pac-12 YouTube channel and follow the action on Statbroadcast.
THE HOME STRETCH
- A win over Fresno State would mean a shot at the Pac-12 Tournament, but the Bobcats would need other results from around the league to fall their way. A Washington State win (over Boise State) and an Oregon State win (over Gonzaga) with a Bobcat win over Fresno State would land the Cougars, Beavers and Bobcats in a three-way tie for fourth with 11 conference points apiece - and would lead to tiebreaker rules beyond the head-to-head matchups because of Texas State's regular season draws with those teams (3-3 at Oregon State, 1-1 at Washington State). The cleanest way in is a Bobcat victory, Oregon State and Gonzaga draw, and Boise State over Washington State.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
- The Bobcats returned home and dropped a matchup that started scoreless through the first 67 minutes to Boise State, after battling Washington State to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 25. The match with the Cougars was highlighted by a final-minute equalizer from National Player of the Week, Victoria Meza and nine saves from Caitlyn Draper who also received IWSOC National Save of the Week honors - Down a goal with three minutes left in the match, Draper made a full stretch save, diving to her left to tip the ball over the crossbar. She also surpassed the 200 career saves mark in the contest. Prior to the draw, the Bobcats took a critical 4-2 victory over Gonzaga.
- Victoria Meza was announced as the IWSOC National Player of the Week on Thursday, Oct. 29 and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday, Oct. 27, totaling three goals, two assists and eight points. The senior standout recorded her fourth brace this season in the 4-2 win over Gonzaga on Thursday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex, adding two assists to contribute to all four Bobcat goals. Meza notched a career-high six points in the contest, good for the fifth-most all-time in the program record book. The San Salvador, El Salvador native scored her second final-minute goal of the season on Sunday at Washington State, heading in a cross from Lilah Dupree in the final minute of regulation to equalize. Meza's third goal of the week launches her into a tie for the conference lead in total goals (11).
- Caitlyn Draper surpassed the 200 career saves milestone at Washington State (Oct. 25) becoming the fourth Bobcat keeper in program history to reach the mark.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Fresno State enters Thursday's match last in the Pac-12 standings at 0-6-1 (one point), and 1-14-3 overall. The Bulldogs have been outscored 54-8 this season and 22-2 in conference play.
- First-year head coach Gabriel Bolton leads the Bulldogs, since being named the program's fifth head coach on Dec. 24, 2025, arriving from CSU Stanislaus as the winningest head coach in that program's history after 21 seasons. He holds a 224-137-51 career record over 22 seasons.
- Bobcat senior Marivic Lek-Miro played two seasons for head coach Gabriel Bolton during her freshman and sophomore years at Stanislaus State.
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY
- The Bobcats and Bulldogs have met just once on the pitch in their history. The match came at the 13th annual UTEP Miners Classic in El Paso, Texas, where Fresno State secured a 1-0 double overtime win on Aug. 29, 2010.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
- Twelve different Bobcats have scored a goal this season, and 18 have recorded at least one point. Nina Norshie ranks second on the team with six goals, and defender Jenny Ngankem has 12 points with a team second-best six assists, as both defenders have contributed heavily to the offense.
