CORINTH, Texas -- The Texas State women's golf team, led by
Yvonne Chamness, sits seventh with a round to play at the Sam Golden Invitational.
Chamness (68-69—137), who wrapped up her 2024-25 season at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, posted a pair of rounds in the 60s at 68 and 69 to open her senior campaign. Last season, Chamness carded five rounds in the 60s across 35 total rounds. Her 36-hole, -7 places her in a tie with UNT's Mallorie Luitwieler and a stroke back from second place.
In her first action back since the Jim West Challenge Oct. 20-21, 2024,
Fia Lindblom (71-70—141) went under par in both rounds on day one and sits in a tie for 22nd at -3. The sophomore missed the spring campaign a season ago due to injury.
Ella Salama joined Chamness and Lindblom as the third Bobcat to card both rounds on the opening day even or under par going 72-71—143 to sit -1 and tied for 35th.
Mattingly Palmer (75-70—145) and
Grace Quintanilla (76-69—145) rounded out the TXST lineup and are tied for 47th with 18 holes to play.
As a team, the Bobcats (286-278—564) are seventh at -12 after an eight-stroke improvement from round one to round two. Missouri leads the 13-team field at -24, while Louisville (-18) and Tulsa (-16) follow in order.
Action wraps up with the final 18 holes on Tuesday with TXST paired with North Texas, Kansas State and Texas Tech at 8am CT from holes No. 6-10.
