SAN MARCOS, Texas – The final non-conference match of the season takes place on Sunday for the Texas State soccer team (3-1-2) when it hosts Baylor (3-0-2). Kickoff for the contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Fans can watch the contest on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available. Admission to the match and all home contests are free.
About Texas State
Texas State played to a 1-1 draw against 19th-ranked Oklahoma on Thursday. It was the program's second-ever positive result against a ranked opponent in program history and the first that took place in San Marcos. It was the Bobcats' second draw this season with the first being a 1-1 draw at Texas A&M.
Constance Agyemang scored the lone goal on Thursday for TXST. It was her fourth goal of the season to tie her for the team lead with
Katrin Agustsdottir. Finding the back of the net three times has been
Helen Alormenu while Saide Guzman has scored twice.
Both
Chloe Jones and
Matsuri Tsutsui have been credited with a team leading three assists. For Jones, she now has 12 assists in her career and is one shy of cracking the program's top 10 list.
In goal,
Brooklyn Escobar has started all six matches and enters Sunday with a 1.63 GAA. The freshman has made 19 saves with a .704 save percentage.
Maude Rouanet has been in goal for 98:57 minutes with a 0.91 GAA and four stops.
About Baylor
The Bears are on a three-match winning streak after defeating Texas 1-0 at home on Thursday. Other victories have been over 17th-ranked Mississippi State and Montana. The two draws came versus Denver and Texas A&M.
Alyssiah Lockette has come off the bench in all five matches but leads the team in goals (2), assists (2) and points (6). Attempting double-digit shots have been Tyler Isgrig (14 shots, 1 A), Aryana Jimison (12 shots, 1 G, 1 A) and Lauren Omholt (16 shots, 1 G).
Between the posts, Azul Alvarez has played all 450 minutes. She has a 0.20 GAA with 14 saves and a .933 save percentage. The senior sports a shutout streak of 446:39 minutes with her lone goal allowed this season coming 3:21 minutes into the season opener against the Aggies.
Series History
Baylor leads the all-time series 4-0-2. Last season, Texas State salvaged a 2-2 draw in Waco thanks to Alormenu when she netted her first collegiate goal in her first collegiate match with 11 seconds remaining on the clock.
Only once before have the teams met in San Marcos. That was on Sept. 26, 2008 with the match going to double overtime and ending in a scoreless draw.
