Bobcats Wrap Up ACU Invite With Eight Wins

ABILENE, Texas – Texas State women's tennis wrapped up its second fall tournament on Sunday after competing at the ACU Invite hosted by Abilene Christian University. The Bobcats totaled eight wins between singles and doubles play throughout three days of competition. 

Doubles
The Bobcats fielded three teams in the women's open doubles and earned four wins in nine matches.

Cooks/Mauchi
Stoney Cooks and Tadiwa Mauchi competed in Flight A of women's open doubles and went 2-1. They won their opening match 6-3 against Stephen F. Austin's Ana Paula Chavez and Jemma Cave. In the semifinals, they fell 3-6 to UTSA's Valeria Sanchez and Natalia Castaneda Guerrero. They closed the weekend with a 7-5 win over Louisiana Tech's Alice Brook and Diana Starodubtseva.

Collins/Mills

Olivia Collins and Chantajah Mills competed in Flight B and went 1-2. They opened with a 7-5 win over UTSA's Aoka Nagasawa and Milica Milosavljevic before dropping their semifinal match 3-6 to Louisiana Tech's Zoie Epps and Maria Tsironi. They then fell 7-6 (7-4) to Tarleton State's Emma Persson and Clara Sobius.

Radovanovic/Richardet

Anastasia Radovanovic and Julia Richardet played in Flight C, finishing 1-2. They lost their opener 1-6 to Tarleton State's Marissa Minetti and Ximena Morales and then dropped their second match 7-6 (7-3) to Sam Houston's Ella Fitcher and Nayuma Subba. They earned a 6-4 win over ACU's Elsa Luthar and Alice Klinteby to close out the weekend.

Singles
Six Bobcats competed in the women's open singles and secured four total wins over three days of competition. Each player took part in three singles matches.

Tadiwa Mauchi

In Flight A, Mauchi went 0-2. She fell 2-6, 2-6 to Louisiana Tech's Zoie Epps and 1-6, 3-6 to UTSA's Valeria Sanchez.

Olivia Collins
Competing in Flight C, Collins went 0-3. She lost 4-6, 1-6 to Texas Tech's Elena Daskalova, then battled New Mexico State's Emma Petton in a tight three-setter, falling 3-6, 6-4, [13-11]. She dropped her final match 3-6, 6-0, [10-5] to UTSA's Aoka Nagasawa.

Anastasia Radovanovic
Radovanovic posted a strong 2-1 mark in Flight D. She opened with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-6) win over ACU's Alice Klinteby, then defeated UTSA's Milica Milosavljevic 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals. She fell in the finals to New Mexico State's Whitney Moon 1-6, 2-6.

Chantajah Mills
Mills went 0-3 in Flight E. She lost a three-set battle to UTA's Vanja Cado, 6-1, 3-6, [10-7], before falling 6-1, 6-0 to Tarleton State's Duru Kuscu. She closed with a 6-4, 6-1 loss to New Mexico State's Victoria Nemeth.

Stoney Cooks
In Flight F, Cooks finished 1-2. She dropped her opener 6-1, 1-6, [10-5] to ACU's Elsa Luthar, bounced back with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Sam Houston's Adithi Venkatakrishnan, and then fell 3-6, 4-6 to Louisiana Tech's Alice Brook.

Julia Richardet
Richardet went 1-2 in Flight G. She lost 2-6, 1-6 to Louisiana Tech's Mio Kozaki and 6-2, 6-2 to Tarleton State's Dariia Medviedieva before earning a walkover win in her final match.

Texas State will host its first tournament of the fall season, the River State Shoot-Out, from October 4-5. More information on the tournament will be announced soon.
