NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Texas State women's golf team battled weather and closed out the Schooner Fall Classic in 12th place with freshman
Grace Quintanilla leading the way after 54 holes of action.
The tournament was originally scheduled across three days from Sept. 20-22, but was played over two due to weather.
Quintanilla opened the tournament by carding a 67 on the par-70 course and closed out day one at with a +1 second round. After a 2-over 72 final round, Quintanilla finished the tournament at even par, good to tie for 21st place.
As a team, TXST finished 12th at 9-over 849, which included a 269-tournament low round on the first 18. Oklahoma State won the event at -18, while TCU was second at -11 and host Oklahoma third at -8.
Yvonne Chamness picked up a top 30 finish in the 90-player field going +2 for the tournament with a low-round of 68 to open the event.
Ella Salama finished third in the Bobcat lineup at +5 to tie for 44th, while
Briana LeMaire was +7 to tie for 57th with an opening round 66 and
Mattingly Palmer tied for 73rd at +12.
The Bobcats are back in action Oct. 3-5 at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate hosted by Denver at the University of Denver Golf Club.
