LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana – Texas State women's tennis opened the 2025 fall season this past weekend in Lake Charles, Louisiana at the Cowgirl Invite hosted by McNeese State University. The Bobcats secured seven wins throughout the three day competition of their season opener. Texas State saw the likes of McNeese, Tarleton State, and UL-Lafayette in a hidden dual format.
Doubles
Texas State had four doubles teams participate in the Cowgirl Invite and gathered four wins during the twelve matches played, with each doubles team securing one win and two losses during the three days of play.
Simme/Roesch
Ireland Simme and
Charlotte Roesch competed in Group 1 of doubles play, earning a 9-7 victory over McNeese's Stella Rundova and Noami Hagi. The duo dropped their other two matches, falling 1-8 to Tarleton State and 6-8 to UL-Lafayette.
Niers/Collins
In Group 2,
Emily Niers and
Olivia Collins picked up a win against UL-Lafayette's Nina Krecklenberg and Marilou Bressan, edging them 8-7(7). The pair came up short in their remaining matches, losing 3-8 to McNeese and 2-8 to Tarleton State.
Mauchi/Radovanovic
Tadiwa Mauchi and
Anastasia Radovanovic represented the Bobcats in Group 3, defeating McNeese's Ana Hollweg and Elena Morales 8-2. They dropped their other contests, 4-8 to Tarleton State and 6-8 to UL-Lafayette.
Richardet/Mills
In Group 4,
Julia Richardet and
Chantajah Mills posted an 8-4 win over UL-Lafayette's Rocio Navarro and Anicia Hammoud. The tandem fell 4-8 to McNeese and 3-8 to Tarleton State in their remaining matches.
Singles
Between the seven Bobcats featured in singles play at the invitational, they were able to secure three wins in total during the three days of competition. Each member of the team was featured in three singles matches.
Emily Niers
Niers battled through three matches in Group 1 of singles play. Despite falling 3-6, 0-6; 2-6, 3-6; and 2-6, 6-3, [6-10], she gained valuable early-season reps against solid competition.
Tadiwa Mauchi
Mauchi went 1-2 in Group 2, capping her weekend with a win over UL-Lafayette's Ana Martinez Vaquero, 3-6, 6-1, [10-8]. Her two other matches were decided by scores of 2-6, 3-6 and 7-5, 3-6, [10-12].
Ireland Simme
Simme posted a 1-2 record in Group 3, earning a hard-fought three-set victory over McNeese's Erica Hagi. She dropped her other matches 3-6, 3-6 and 1-6, 3-6, but continued to compete strongly throughout the weekend.
Charlotte Roesch
Roesch closed her Group 4 slate with a win, edging UL-Lafeyette's Marilou Bressan 6-4, 6-2. She dropped matches 2-6, 1-6 and 7-6(5), 4-6, [7-10], but showcased promising play in her debut tournament as a Bobcat.
Anastasia Radovanovic
Radovanovic gained valuable experience in her first collegiate outing, competing in Group 5. She dropped three matches 4-6, 3-6; 2-6, 3-6; and 3-6, 7-5, [7-10], including a narrow super tiebreak in her final contest.
Olivia Collins
Collins, also making her Bobcat debut, went 0-3 in Group 6 but pushed her opponents in close sets. She fell 6-2, 5-7, [10-12]; 6-7(6), 0-6; and 2-6, 6-1, [5-10], showing her ability to extend matches.
Julia Richardet
Richardet competed in Group 7, where she faced a challenging draw in her first Texas State appearance. She dropped three matches 1-6, 2-6; 0-6, 1-6; and 1-6, 0-6.
The Bobcats will return to action on September 26-28 when they head to Abilene, Texas for the Wildcat Invite hosted by Abilene Christian University.
