SAN MARCOS, Texas – A stretch of four consecutive home matches begins on Sunday when Texas State (2-0-1) hosts Arizona State (1-0-1) at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. Kickoff for the contest is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Fans can watch the contest on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available. Admission to the match and all home contests are free.
About Texas State
The Bobcats are coming off a 1-1 draw on Wednesday at Texas A&M. It was the program's first-ever positive result against an SEC program. The match also marked the first of four contests against Power 4 programs over a five-game span.
Helen Alormenu scored the lone TXST goal in College Station to give her three on the season. She is tied for the team lead with
Katrin Agustsdottir. Alormenu's two assists are also tied for the most on the squad with
Chloe Jones and
Kaylie Smith.
In goal,
Brooklyn Escobar has started all three matches this season. She played in just the first half in the first two contests before playing all 90 minutes against the Aggies. The freshman sports a 0.50 GAA with six saves and a .857 save percentage.
Maude Rouanet comes in with four saves and a .800 save percentage after making three stops Sunday night at Incarnate Word.
About Arizona State
The Sun Devils began the season with a 2-0 win over Nevada and played to a 1-1 draw at Texas on Thursday. Since the start of the 2019 season, ASU is 15-0-7 in matches in the month of August and has outscored opponents 63-14. The last loss in the month was on Aug. 31, 2018 at home to New Hampshire by a score of 2-1.
Cameron Valladares leads the team with three points having scored one goal and assisted on another. Also finding the back of the net once has been Miki Hayashi and Peyton Marcisz. Only other play to register an assist is Sierra Bergen.
Pauline Nelles has started both matches in goal. She enters Sunday with a 0.50 GAA, seven saves and a .875 save percentage.
Series History
Sunday will be the first-ever meeting between Texas State and Arizona State. Only other team from the Grand Canyon state that the Bobcats have played before is North Arizona.
