SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State men's basketball head coach Terrence Johnson announced the signing of Tay Knox to the program for the 2025-26 season on Thursday.
"We're thrilled to welcome Tay to San Marcos. He provides us with the right length and athleticism to compete in the Sun Belt," said Johnson. "We believe his basketball IQ and work ethic will have an immediate impact on our program from day one. We are excited that he is a Bobcat."
The past two seasons saw Knox play for Western Illinois, where he appeared in 56 games and made 12 starts. He averaged 3.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per contest while shooting 51.7% from the field in that time.
Last season for the Leathernecks saw him make 11 starts and put up 4.0 ppg and 5.3 rpg while leading the team with 32 blocks. He was second on the squad in the 2023-24 campaign with 37 rejections. Knox's 69 blocks for WIU placed him ninth in school history.
Prior to playing for the Leathernecks, he played a season at Chipola Community College. Knox played in 30 games with 11 starts while shooting 62.9% from the field and blocking 32 shots.
