Bobcats Set for Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships

The three-day championship meet will take place Thursday-Saturday

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State track and field will continue its outdoor campaign at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Thursday through Saturday in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The three-day championship meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT on Thursday and Friday and 11:30 a.m. CT on Saturday.

The women's team will look to defend their title, after winning the 2024 SBC Track and Field Championship meet last season in Monroe, Louisiana, after scoring 120.2 points, while the men's team will look to secure its first SBC title since 2019.

The men's team placed second last season with 118 points, while South Alabama placed first with 143 total points.

Heading into the conference championship, 11 Bobcats sit ranked atop the SBC in their respective events.

Drew Donley leads the SBC in both the men's 100m and 200m. Donley's school record time of 10.22 is first in the 100m, and his PR time of 20.51 in the 200m, which is fifth in TXST history, leads the conference.

Freshman Mihajlo Katanic goes into the meet leading the SBC in the 400m hurdles. Katanic holds a PR of 50.48, which is the second-fastest time in school history.
In the jumps, Chris Preddie and Kason O'Riley lead the SBC in their respective events. Preddie leads in the long jump with a mark of 7.87m, and O'Riley leads in the high jump with a jump of 2.21m.

In the throws on the men's side, Edward Ta'amilo and Henry Buckles sit ranked first in their events going into the meet. Ta'amilo leads in the discus (56.96m), and Buckles leads in the shot put (18.84m).

On the women's side, Abigail Parra is the lone Bobcat to lead the conference in a track event. Her school record time of 4:18.87, which she recorded at the Bryan Clay Invite, leads the field by more than six seconds.

In throwing events, Texas State has three athletes – Melanie Duron, Lara Roberts and Charlize Goody – that lead in their respective events.

Duron leads in the shot put with a mark of 16.97m, Roberts leads both the SBC and the NCAA in the hammer throw with a mark of 70.97m, and Goody is ranked first in the javelin with a 51.03m.

Freshman Kendall Lemm is the final Bobcat who leads in her event. In the high jump, Lemm is the only athlete to record a mark of 1.78m in the event this season.

The 2025 SBC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be broadcast via ESPN+, and fans can also follow along with the action via live results.
