COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The first day of the women's competition at the NCAA West First Round saw two Bobcats, Lara Roberts (hammer throw) and Melanie Duron (shot put), qualify for the NCAA Track and Field National Championship in their respective events.
Tickets Punched
For the second consecutive season, Lara Roberts will be heading to the National Championship in the women's hammer throw. Roberts finished in fourth place at the NCAA West First Round to punch her ticket and recorded a mark of 65.61m.
Roberts joins Elisabet Runarsdottir as the only Bobcats to earn back-to-back trips to nationals in the women's hammer throw.
Joining Roberts on the trip to Eugene will be shot putter Melanie Duron. Duron placed ninth in the event to punch her ticket and will make her second nationals appearance in the shot put this season, after competing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships earlier this year.
