COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas State track and field is set to continue its postseason at the NCAA West First Round May 28-31 at the E.B Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas.
22 Bobcats will compete in individual events and Texas State will be represented in the in the relays by the men's 4x100m team. In total, the Bobcats will compete in 20 events throughout the four days of competition.
How Athletes Qualify for NationalsÂ
The NCAA West Prelims consist of the top-48 athletes in each individual event and the top-24 teams in each relay. For the individual running events, the first round of competition will take place on Wednesday for the men and Thursday for the women.Â

The athletes that place in the top 24 of the first round will move onto the quarterfinals, which take place Friday for the men and Saturday for the women. Athletes who place in the top 12 of their events in the quarterfinals, will earn a spot at the 2024 NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

The quarterfinals for the relays, consisting of the top-24 relay teams from the West Region, will take place Friday for the men and Saturday for the Women. The top-12 relay teams in each event will earn a spot at the National Championships.Â

The field events consist of the top-48 athletes from the NCAA West Region, however there is only one round of competition for each field event. To qualify for Nationals in their field event, an athlete must place in the top 12.Â

Continuing Success
The Texas State Track and Field Team looks to continue its streak of sending athletes to the National Championship meet. The men's squad has been represented at the past four National Championships, while the women's squad has been represented the past three seasons.Â
