Bobcat Women's Basketball Adds Junior College Standout Kyajia Stewart

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's basketball continues to add depth to its roster with the addition of Daytona State transfer Kyaija Stewart. The Ithaca, New York native is joining the Bobcats as a junior after spending her first two seasons with the Falcons.

"Kyaija [Stewart] has a high-level motor desire to be her best," Antoine said. "What is even more exciting is that her best basketball lies ahead. The addition of Ky to our roster elevates us on both ends of the floor and to the Texas State University landscape."

Stewart played in over 50 games during her time as a Falcon and in her sophomore season averaged nearly nine points and over five rebounds a game. She also tallied 23 steals, 17 blocks and 26 assists in her sophomore campaign.

Stewart had 13 double-digit games last season including a season-high 19 points against Chipola College, who were ranked #16 at the time. She shot 8-15 and 3-4 from the free throw line that night for 19 points in 22 minutes of game time.

She also had 16 points at Miami Dade College on 7-17 shooting and 15 points against Santa Fe College on 6-13 shooting during her sophomore campaign. As a freshman, Stewart primarily saw time off the bench but continued to make an impact with 40.0 shooting from the field.

Stewart played high school basketball at Tampa Catholic High School where she finished her career averaging over nine points and five rebounds a game. She was the season leader for double doubles in 2022-23. She also played club basketball for Compound Basketball.

Stewart is the seventh transfer to join the Bobcats ahead of the 2025-26 season. She is one of nine newcomers Antoine has added to the program this fall, joining transfers Kyla McBride, Deja Jones, Myla Harbor, Amyria Walker, Kyra Anderson and KP Parr and two incoming freshmen Kaliyah Murphy and Angela Carroll.

What they're saying about Stewart:
Coach Rahmel Mack GIAC Firebirds Teen/Rec Program Coordinator: "Ky is a shining example of what passion and hard work can lead to. She remains focused and motivated to evolve as a basketball player because of her love for the game and her hunger to be great. This has been Ky since 5th grade. She plays basketball for the joy of it, and it shows. She has always been a great teammate and leader both on and off the court. I'm incredibly proud to witness all the doors her love for basketball is opening for her. Texas State has a great one in her!"
