SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State track and field battled through multiple weather delays on the first day of the Texas Invitational and ended the first day of the meet with six athletes placing in the top three of their respective events.
Kason O'Riley and
Aiden Hayes finished first and second in the men's high jump at the Texas Invite. O'Riley recorded a new outdoor PR of 2.21m/7-3 and extended his lead in the Sun Belt Conference for the event. His mark also makes him T-3 in the NCAA West Region and T-4 in the NCAA.
Hayes recorded a mark of 2.13m and currently sits in second in the SBC with his PR mark of 2.19m.
Freshman
Kendall Lemm found the podium in the women's high jump. Lemm marked a jump of 1.70m and is the SBC leader in the event with her SB mark of 1.78m.
On the track,
Taejha Badal won the women's 200m and recorded a PR time of 23.23 in the event. She sits ranked second in the SBC and 24th in the NCAA West Region.
Freshman
Mihajlo Katanic improved his PR mark in the 400m hurdles when he recorded a time of 50.48, which is the best time in the SBC and the second-best time in TXST history. The newcomer sits ranked 12th in the NCAA West Region and 19th in the NCAA.
Anthony Sandoval concluded the night for the Bobcats with a third-place finish in the men's 5000m. Sandoval recorded his outdoor PR in the event with a time of 15:07.01.
The Bobcats return to action tomorrow for day two of the Texas Invite beginning at 9:30 a.m.
