Play Suspended in Round One at Sun Belt Championship

MADISON, Mississippi – Play was suspended due to weather at the Sun Belt Conference Championship with the Texas State men's golf team having one hole to play on the first 18. Action will resume at 7:30 a.m. CT Tuesday with round two pairings announced at the conclusion of round one.

Four Bobcat golfers wrapped up their first round, with Sakke Siltala sitting +3 through 17.

Jack Burke leads TXST through the first 18. After opening the day with bogeys on one and two, the senior bounced back unblemished on the remaining 16 holes with back-to-back birdies on Nos. nine and 10.

Ben Loveard sits 3-over after a strong 1-under showing on the front nine to open the tournament, while Jaxon Donaldson is +4 heading into round two and Joel Talusen is +7.

As a team, the Bobcats are tied for 13th before the addition of Siltala's round one score. All Arkansas State golfers finished round one and have the team sitting atop the leaderboard at -10. James Madison is second at -4 with golfers yet to finish and Coastal Carolina is third at -3 after a complete 18. Louisiana and Troy are tied at -2 in the fourth spot, 12 strokes ahead of TXST for a match play qualifying spot.

Round two action will resume Tuesday at the conclusion of round one.
