Bobcats Travel to Marshall for Final SBC Road Match

Texas State is ranked 3rd in the SBC, while Marshall is ranked 4th

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Tennis heads to Huntington, West Virginia, to face the No. 68 nationally ranked Marshall Thundering Herd on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT.

This will be the Bobcats' second-consecutive matchup against a nationally ranked team and its third this season.

The Bobcats are ranked third in the Sun Belt Women's Tennis standings and the Thundering Herd is ranked fourth going into the match on Saturday.

Despite dropping its last match against Old Dominion, there are still multiple Bobcats with impressive stats coming into Saturday's match.

Ireland Simme remains a perfect 14-0 in singles play this season and holds a 5-0 record in doubles play with her partner Sofia Fortuno. Fortuno holds an impressive 10-6 record as well in singles play.

Court one player, Kiana Graham, will be looking for her 10th win in singles play against Marshall. She currently sits 9-4 on the season in singles and 10-4 in doubles with her partner Callie Creath.

Playing on courts three, four and five this season, Emily Niers has dropped one singles match and sits at 12-1 heading into the matchup with Marshall.

Marshall sits at No. 68 in the country and has a record of 17-4 coming into the match with TXST. The Thundering Herd has a 6-3 conference record with losses to James Madison, Old Dominion and App State.

Marshall is led by court one player Johanna Strom, who sits 11-6 on the year, with a 10-6 record on court one and a 1-0 record on court two.

This will be the third matchup between the two teams and marks the third consecutive season they have played.
