Bobcats Close Out All-American Intercollegiate; Siltala in Top 10

HUMBLE, Texas – Texas State men's golfer Sakke Siltala posted his third consecutive top 10 finish, and fifth overall in 2024-25, to lead the Bobcats at the All-American Intercollegiate. As a team, TXST finished ninth at the Golf Club of Houston.

The junior went 1-over on the final 18 to improve three spots on the leaderboard and tie for sixth at 2-under 214 for the tournament, giving him his third straight finish under par. Siltala (74-67-73-214) led the field with two eagles over 54 holes and added his team leading eighth round in the 60s, carding 5-under 67 on the second 18.

"We made some progress this week even if the results don't show it," said head coach Shane Howell. "Our best team golf is right in front of us as we get into championship season in the next month. Sakke continues to give himself chances to win golf tournaments.His consistency to contend in golf tournaments week in and week out is incredible."

The Bobcats (294-298-296--888) used an 8-over final round to improve three spots and finished ninth at +24. Co-host Houston won the tournament at -20 with Troy (-11) and TCU (-3) following in order.

Ben Loveard (75-74-75--224) finished second among TXST players, and tied for 44th overall at the event, after his +3 final round set his final score at +8. Jack Burke (70-79-76--225) was just a stroke behind Loveard at +9 having posted his ninth round under par of the season on the opening 18.

Up 15 spots on the final day was Jaxon Donaldson (75-78-73--226), who went +10 and checked in tied for 51st. Enzo Dakiche (75-83-75--233) rounded out the lineup at +17 and tied for 71st.

At the All-American Individual event, Brannan Cox (76-74-79--229) led a pair of TXST golfers with a tied for 21st finish. Harrison Jaeger (76-76-80--232) tied for 28th.

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday-Tuesday for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate hosted at the RTJ Falls Course in Mobile. It is the penultimate tournament before TXST takes on the field at the Sun Belt Conference Championship April 21-24 in Madison, Mississippi.
