HUMBLE, Texas – Junior
Sakke Siltala continues to impress on the course, leading the Texas State men's golf team after the first day of action at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
Siltala fired his team-leading eighth round in the 60s, going 5-under 67 on the second 18 to bring his day one total to -3 to sit tied for eighth. The second round saw him climb 41 spots on the individual leaderboard and featured three birdies and a pair of tournament-leading eagles on Nos. 8 and 13.
As a team, the Bobcats tied for the second highest eagle total of the day at three, led by Siltala's pair and one from
Jack Burke. The Bobcats are 12th at +16. Co-host Houston leads the event at -21, while Sun Belt Conference foes Troy (-11) and Southern Miss (-5) are second and third, respectively.
Burke and
Ben Loveard sit locked at 48th on the leaderboard after the duo both went 5-over Monday. Included in Burke's total was a 2-under 70 opening round.
Jaxon Donaldson (T65, +9) and
Enzo Dakiche (T73, +14) completed the TXST lineup.
Brannan Cox and
Harrison Jaeger are competing as individuals at the All-American Individual taking place on the Members Course in conjunction with the team event. Both Bobcats went 4-over on the first 18, while Cox (T14) improved two strokes to finish the day +6 and Jaeger (T18) stayed consistent to close out day one at +8.
