4 Bobcats Earn Second Team All-American Honors at NCAA Indoor Nationals

This marked the first time in program history four athletes earned All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – For the first time in Texas State track and field program history, four athletes earned second-team All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

"This was a week of firsts, with three of the four athletes attending the NCAA Championships for the first time," said Director of Track and Field/Cross Country John Frazier. "I'm very proud of the way everyone competed, giving 100% of what they were able to do. This was great preparation for the outdoor season to be ready to compete at the highest level during the bigger competitions."

Aiden Hayes (men's high jump), Kason O'Riley (men's high jump), Melanie Duron (women's shot put) and Henry Buckles (men's shot put) all earned second-team All-America honors in their respective events.

Hayes and O'Riley began the day for the Bobcats at the indoor nationals meet in the men's high jump. Hayes tied for 12th place along with three other athletes in the event. He marked a jump of 2.11m and became one of the three athletes in TXST history to compete in the men's high jump at the indoor national meet.

O'Riley recorded a mark of 2.16m, placed ninth overall and was one spot short of earning first-team All-America honors. He joined Charles Austin and Aiden Hayes as the only two male athletes to compete in the high jump at an NCAA national championship meet.

In the women's shot put, Duron placed 13th with a mark of 16.74m and became the third member from the women's team to compete at indoor nationals in the shot put in program history.

To end the day for TXST, Buckles appeared in the men's shot put and placed 14th overall. Buckles recorded a mark of 17.72m and became the second TXST athlete to compete in the men's shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The national championship meet concluded the 2025 indoor season for the Bobcats. Texas State returns to the track next weekend in San Marcos when it hosts the Charles Austin Classic on March 21-22.
