SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off an upset of the top-ranked team in the nation Tuesday on the road, Texas State (6-2) is back home to host a three-game series against Grand Canyon (5-3) this weekend. Friday's first pitch at Bobcat Ballpark is scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday will start at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday's finale is slated to begin at 1 p.m.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
Tuesday's victory over No. 1 Texas A&M was the second straight midweek victory over a ranked opponent this season for Texas State after beating then 19-ranked Oklahoma State on Feb. 18 at Globe Life Field. This season the Bobcats are 4-2 at home after sweeping Binghamton and dropping the series last weekend to Illinois.

Ethan Farris paces the squad with a .387 batting average and shares the RBI lead with Austin Eaton and Ryne Farber at seven apiece. Farber comes in hitting .345 with a team-high six runs scored and three stolen bases. Also batting over .300 is Samson Pugh at .320 while laying down a team-high three sacrifice bunts.

Of the team's five home runs, three have come off the bat of Eaton. All of them have come over the last four games, including a three-run go-ahead shot in College Station. Also leaving the yard once has been Austin Munguia and Farber.

There has been no change to the rotation over the first two weekends with Jackson Teer (0-1, 7.11 ERA, 10 K) scheduled to start on Friday. Sam Hall (0-0, 4.00 ERA, 6 K) will get the ball on Saturday and Eaton (1-1, 4.00 ERA, 7 K) is scheduled to start Sunday's finale.

Bryson Dudley has picked up a win in each of his three appearances out of the bullpen. The right-hander also paces the team with a 0.93 ERA and 16 strikeouts. Carson Laws has a Sun Belt Conference leading three saves and recorded seven punch outs. Both he and Matthew Tippie (3.86 ERA, 8 K) have made four relief appearances.

ABOUT GRAND CANYON
The Lopes will be playing their first games outside of the Phoenix area this weekend. They are coming off a series win over Rutgers at home and opened the season playing in the MLB Desert Invitational, where they beat San Diego State but lost to Austin Peay and Vanderbilt. GCU also has a midweek win over then 23rd-ranked Nebraska.

Emilio Barreras comes in batting .500 (15-for-30) with a double, one homer, six RBI and eight runs. Also hitting over .300 is Eli Payton (.333), Cannon Peery (.333), Troy Sanders (.310) and Zach Yorke (.348). Paton is tied for the team lead with nine RBI along with Eddy Pelc, who has hit a team best three round trippers. Both Michael Diaz and Paton have hit two home runs apiece.

Isaac Lyon is scheduled to start on Friday and enters the game 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA and eight strikeouts in 10 innings. Fellow right-hander Garrett Ahern will start on Saturday. He is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA and team-high 12 strikeouts over 12 frames. Sunday's starter is still to be determined.

Walter Quinn has earned both of the Lopes' saves this season. He is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and four strikeouts in 3.2 innings spanning three appearances. Also earning a win in relief has been Cam Cunnings (0.00 ERA, 2 K) and Elijah Higginbottom (5.40 ERA, 5 K).

SERIES VS. LOPES
Grand Canyon leads the all-time series 2-1. The only previous meeting between the teams was a three-game series in Phoenix in 2023. The Lopes won the first and third games that weekend while Texas State claimed the second contest by a 3-0 score.
