HENDERSON, Nevada – After the opening 18 holes of the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, the Texas State men's golf team sits tied for fifth, while
Sakke Siltala and
Jack Burke are in the top 10.
Siltala and Burke currently check in at 2-under 70 at the conclusion of round one, good to tie for 10th. Siltala carded six birdies on the day, the second highest total of the tournament, while Burke registered four. The duo now has eight rounds apiece under par for the season and all 13 rounds counted.
Joel Talusen ranks tied for 43rd on the individual leaderboard after shooting 3-over 75 and
Ben Loveard and
Jaxon Donaldson both went 5-over in the first round to tie for 62nd. Competing as an individual,
Enzo Dakiche went 3-over.
As a team, Texas State sits tied for fifth with Stetson on the leaderboard at 4-over 292. Long Beach State leads the 15-team field at -11, while Northern Illinois (-9) and Arkansas State (-2) round out the top three.
Round two action of the three-day event opens Tuesday with the Bobcats teeing off at 10 a.m. CT/8 a.m. PT. TXST is paired with Boise State, DePaul and Stetson teeing of from hole No. 1.
