Track and Field Heads to Indoor Conference Championships

Seven Bobcats lead the SBC in their event heading into the championship meet

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State track and field team is heading to Birmingham, Ala., to compete in the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships. The two-day meet begins on Monday and continues into Tuesday, with both days of competition starting at 10 a.m. with the multi events.
After finishing in third at last year's conference meet, the women's team will be looking to take home its first SBC indoor championship since 2019. The men's team finished fourth last year and is hoping to claim its first title since 2016.
Heading into the conference meet, seven Bobcats sit atop the SBC rankings in their events.

Bobcats Taejha Badal and Drew Donley lead the SBC in both the women's and men's 200m. Badal leads the conference with a time of 23.38, and Donley leads the men with a time of 21.03.

In the jumps, three Bobcats lead the charge heading into the championship meet. Kason O'Riley, the No. 3 men's high jumper in the NCAA, leads the field with a mark of 2.25m. In the women's high jump, freshman Kendall Lemm is tied for the conference's No. 1 mark with a jump of 1.73m.

Precious Okougbodu leads the SBC in the triple jump by .16m with her PR mark of 12.98m and is tied for ninth in the conference in the long jump.

Texas State also has the conference leaders in the women's and men's shot put. On the women's side, Melanie Duron leads the conference with a mark of 16.57m. Duron won the 2024 indoor championship and will be looking to defend her title.

On the men's side, Henry Buckles sits in first place with a mark of 19.02m and leads the SBC by more than .50m.
