Women's Tennis Prepares for Two Home Matches

The Bobcats will face UTRGV on Sunday and SFA on Monday

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's tennis continues its homestand with a pair of matches against UTRGV and Stephen F. Austin. The Bobcats will face UTRGV at 12 p.m. on Sunday and SFA at 10 a.m. on Monday.

TXST heads into its upcoming matches carrying a five-match winning streak and has an overall record of 6-2. Its winning streak of five matches is the third-longest streak the Bobcats have recorded since joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2014.

Coming into Sunday's match versus UTRGV, two Bobcats – Ireland Simme and Emily Niers – both carry win streaks of five or more in singles play. On court six, Simme has won her last six matches, and on court No. 5, Niers has won her last five.

UTRGV comes into the match with a 2-2 record and wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Prairie View A&M.

The Vaqueros are led by Rhea Makesar, who was named the Southland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after going 2-0 in their matchup against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Texas State leads the all-time series 9-2 versus UTRGV and won last year's matchup 4-3.

The Ladyjacks come into Monday's match with wins over Oral Roberts, Alcorn State, Jackson State, and ULM.

SFA is led by Felicia Back and Jemma Cave, who are featured on courts one and three. Back holds a 5-2 record and has won her last two matches. Cave is 6-1 and dropped her first match of the season against Grand Canyon.

Monday's match will be the 19th meeting between the Bobcats and the Ladyjacks. TXST holds a 13-5 record versus SFA and won last year's match 4-0.

Live stats will not be available for Sunday's match but will be available for Monday's matchup.
