For the third consecutive year, the Bobcats swept their opening weekend opponent that was capped off by a 7-4 win on Sunday over Binghamton. Tuesday marks the first of five consecutive games against Power 4 programs. On tap is a three-game series against Illinois followed by a contest next Tuesday at Texas A&M, the current No. 1 ranked team in the nation.

Ethan Farris paced all players over the weekend, going 5-for-12 (.417) while hitting a triple and driving in five runs. Ryane Farber finished 4-for-10 (.400) with two doubles and four RBI. Both
Zachary Gingrich (.364) and
Samson Pugh (.333) hit over .300. In his lone appearance over the weekend on Sunday,
Theo Kummer was 2-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and one double.

Scheduled to get the ball on Tuesday to start the game is
Jesus Tovar. The left-hander is a transfer from New Mexico Junior College where he went 13-1 with a 2.68 ERA and 110 strikeouts in his two years.

Out of the bullpen, highly touted
Carson Laws picked up two saves. He is the first TXST pitcher to record two saves on the opening weekend of a season since Carson Smith did so in 2011 in a three-game series at Houston. Also making two appearances were
Braylen Timmins (6.75 ERA, 2 K) and
Matthew Tippie (0.00 ERA, 2 K).
Colby Diaz and
Bryson Dudley both threw three scoreless innings of relief with four and five strikeouts, respectively, to earn wins.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATE
OSU is coming off a weekend in the Shriners Children's College Showdown in Arlington where it defeated Louisville but lost to Clemson and Texas. The Cowboys will play their first home game of the season this coming weekend when they host UT Arlington. In the Big XII preseason poll, Oklahoma State was picked to win the league as it received nine of the 14 first-place votes.

Jayson Jones enters leading the team with a .455 average and six runs while hitting a home run and driving in three. Noah Schubart is batting .400 with five RBI. A team-high seven runs have been driven in by Colin Brueggemann and Ian Daugherty is right behind him with six RBI. Avery Ortez paces the squad with two round trippers.

SERIES VS. COWBOYS
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series 8-3 and has won three of the last four meetings. Two of Texas State's wins have come in Stillwater while the other was in San Marcos in 2018 during opening weekend. That was the last time the teams met.

The only previous meeting between the teams at a neutral site took place in Austin on Mar. 3, 1990. The Cowboys came away with a 4-1 victory that day.
