sDENVER – The Texas State women's golf team posted its best finish of the 2025-26 season, earning runner-up honors at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Denver. The performance was highlighted by
Yvonne Chamness, who tied for second place for the second time in three events this season.
The Bobcats never fell out of the final top three across 54 holes of golf, holding steady after round two to secure their best outing of the young season. TXST (283-286-284--853) went 11-under in the 15-team field that was led by Vanderbilt's 24-under performance. Colorado finished locked with the Bobcats on the final leaderboard.
TXST tied with champion Vanderbilt with 47 birdies across three rounds, including 12 from Chamness and 11 and 10 from
Fia Lindblom and
Mana Hersperger, respectively.
Chamness (67-72-68--207) posted all three rounds even or under par and brings her team-leading total to six rounds in the 60s this season. Her 9-under performance was one stroke shy of her season-best -10 posted at the season-opening Sam Golden Invitational.
Fia Lindblom (70-77-67--214) stormed up the individual leaderboard on the final 18, jumping 27 spots for her best finish of the season at tied for ninth. The sophomore equaled the low-round of the tournament for TXST with her third-round 67, which included three birdies and an eagle.
In her first action as a Bobcat,
Mana Hersperger finished tied for 26th with a round each at even and under par. The freshman was +4 on the tournament.
Briana LeMaire and
Ella Salama rounded out the TXST lineup at +6 and +8, respectively, to finished tied for 35th and 45th.
The Bobcats are back in action for their final tournament of the fall season when they host the Jim West Challenge October 19-20 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas. The event will be streamed on ESPN+ with live scoring available on Clippd.
