Bobcats Open Season at 2024 Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's golf team opens the season at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate hosted by Coastal Carolina at Grande Dunes Golf Club September 8-10 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

In addition to the host Chanticleers, the tournament field also includes Appalachian State, Campbell, East Carolina, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Jacksonville, James Madison, Maryland, Old Dominion, Santa Clara, UTEP and Western Carolina.

The Bobcats, paired up with Old Dominion and App State for the first 18 holes, will tee off starting at 8 a.m. ET/7 a.m. CT from hole 1, with Groh teeing off from 10 at 9:10 a.m. ET/8:10 a.m. CT with individuals from Coastal Carolina and App State.

The TXST lineup features 2024 All-Sun Belt selections Burke and Siltala, transfer and NAIA All-American Dakiche and newcomers Donaldson and Talusen.

Burke played in all 10 tournaments for the Bobcats during the 2023-24 season and helped the team finish top four in three, including a win at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Burke had 13 rounds under par and a season-low 54-hole score of 208.

Siltala led the team in scoring average (71.70) and birdies and had three top 10 finishes, including two in the top five, and a season-best third-place finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in March. He led the way for Texas State with 21 of his 24 rounds scoring for the team in eight tournaments.

This 2023-24 season saw the Bobcats record four top five finishes that included claiming the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate title. They qualified for match play in the Sun Belt Conference Championship for the first time in team history after tying for third in the 72-hole stroke play portion.

The group also earned Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Presidents Special Recognition, while five Bobcats were named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.
