SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team (5-3-3, 1-0-1 Sun Belt) is back on the road to wrap up the weekend with a match at Southern Miss (1-5-1, 0-1-1 Sun Belt) on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the Marshall Bell Complex.

About Texas State
The Bobcats extended their undefeated streak to six matches (3-0-3) with a 6-1 win over Marshall in the Sun Belt Conference home opener. Four different players scored in the contest while TXST were also aided by two Thundering Herd own goals.

Mady Soumare's five goals and two match-winning goals this season are both tied for second most in the conference. The trio of
Helen Alormenu,
Sydney Bassa and
Victoria Meza have netted three goals apiece while
Zoe Junior and
Mya Ulloa have added two tallies each.

Credited with a team-high four assists is
Kaylie Smith, who has recorded one in each of the last two matches. Coming in with three assists to her name is Junior.

Caitlyn Draper heads into Sunday's match with a 0.92 GAA. She leads the conference with 43 saves and is second with a .860 save percentage. Also seeing action in goal has been
Katelyn Chrisman, who has made nine saves in five contests and in nearly 307 minutes on the pitch.

About Southern Miss
The Golden Eagles enter Sunday on a six-match winless streak after playing to a scoreless draw at South Alabama on Wednesday. They opened conference play with a five-goal setback at James Madison. The lone win for USM came in its season opener at home against Mississippi Valley State.

Raquelle Mitchell and Adaira Nakano have both scored a team leading two goals. Also finding the back of the net has been Shaelynn Quick, Rebeka Vega and Alice Williamson. An assist apiece belongs to Victoria Clark, Mallory Tapper, Nakano and Williamson. The only player to have attempted double-digit shots is Williamson with 20 and she also paced the squad with eight shots on goal.

In goal, Kesaia Bruni has appeared in seven matches and started three of them. She has a 1.54 GAA and 18 saves with a .720 save percentage. Maddie Ellis has started four contests between the posts, stopping six shots and surrendering 11 goals for a 5.19 GAA.

Texas State leads the all-time series 1-0-2. Last season, the teams played to a 3-3 draw in the regular season finale in San Marcos that saw
Chloe Jones score her first career goal with one second left on the clock.

The only win in the series saw the Bobcats claim a 1-0 contest on Oct. 1, 2022 in Hattiesburg with the lone goal being an own goal by the hosts. First time the teams met was in New Orleans and ended in a 1-1 draw on Aug. 31, 2003.
