Sun Belt Play Begins Sunday at Louisiana

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The first Sun Belt Conference match of the year for Texas State (4-3-2) takes place on Sunday when it travels to take on Louisiana (5-1-4) at 1 p.m. from the Home Bank Soccer/Track Facility.

About Texas State
Heading into the match, the Bobcats are undefeated in their last four contests (2-0-2) with all of them taking place on the road. Thursday's non-conference finale saw TXST claim a 2-1 win at McNeese for the program's first win in Lake Charles since 2010.
 
Mady Soumare's five goals are tied for first in the Sun Belt Conference and are the most recorded by a Texas State player prior to conference play since 2015. In her first two career matches, Helen Alormenu scored two clutch goals with the match-winner versus the Cowgirls and netting the tying tally with 11 seconds left at Baylor.
 
Also finding the back of the net two times this year has been Sydney Bassa, Victoria Meza and Mya Ulloa. A team-high three assists have been credited to Zoe Junior while five other Bobcats have two assists to their names.
 
Between the posts, Caitlyn Draper heads into Thursday's match with a 0.86 GAA. She leads the Sun Belt with 37 saves and is second with a .881 save percentage. Also seeing action in goal, Katelyn Chrisman, who has made nine saves in four contests and nearly 289 minutes of action.
 
About Louisiana
The Ragin' Cajuns head into Sunday after closing out non-conference play last week with a 4-0 win at home over UTRGV. They are 4-0-2 at home this season with other victories over Grambling, Middle Tennessee and Northwestern State while the two draws were both scoreless contests versus Florida Atlantic and Louisiana Tech. The lone loss was a 3-1 setback at LSU.
 
Both Adeline Nemeth and Lucy Ortiz have scored a team-high three goals and the duo of Mariella Stephens and Alia Swinton have found the back of the net twice. Sydney Byrnes comes in with a conference best four assists while Tatum Beck sports three assists.
 
Natalie Myers is the only goalkeeper to see action this season. The sophomore sports a 0.80 GAA with 27 saves and a .771 save percentage.
 
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 11-2-1. Last season saw the Bobcats win both meetings with a 3-0 victory in San Marcos and a 2-1 win in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship. Over the last four meetings, TXST is undefeated with a 3-0-1 record.
 
When facing the Cajuns on the road, Texas State is 4-2-1 all-time. The last road match was on Oct. 9, 2022 and saw the Bobcats leave town with a 2-1 victory after Olivia Wright's breakaway goal with 49 seconds remaining.
