Blakley Promoted to Associate Head Coach

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State head baseball coach Steven Trout announced the promotion of Josh Blakley to Associate Head Coach of the program on Thursday.

"I am truly excited to be named the Associate Head Coach of the Texas State Baseball program. The best thing about Texas State is the quality of the people in the athletic department, especially the baseball program," said Blakley. "To have those same people invest in my future means the world to Ashlee and me. I want to say a special thank you to Steven Trout, Don Coryell, Bryan Dean and the players for putting their belief in me. This truly is a special place, and I look forward to continued success and helping take this program to new heights."

Blakley has served the past four seasons as the team's recruiting coordinator during which he helped bring in the highest rated freshman class in program history in 2021 that was ranked 48th in the nation by Perfect Game. He also brought in two other top 100 classes.

With Blakley on staff, the Bobcats recorded the largest turnaround in NCAA history with a program best record of 47-19 in 2022 that was a 24.5 game improvement from the previous year. The record setting year saw TXST come within three outs of winning the Stanford Regional and advancing to the Super Regionals for the first time in team history.

"Josh is a huge reason for our success over the past few seasons. He is one of the best recruiting coordinators in the state of Texas and across the country," said Trout. "He does a great job building relationships with our players in the recruiting process and continues that while they are in our program. Blakley is a tireless worker and has taking our recruiting to new heights."

On the field, Texas State has produced the program's top two home run campaigns with a team record 87 in 2022 and 83 in 2023. The team has also had success off the field that includes a team GPA of 3.01 this past spring, the highest spring semester GPA in program history.
