SAN MARCOS, Texas – Junia Gabasa has qualified and will play in this week's 79th U.S. Women's Open Presented by Ally at the Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club.

Gabasa was the first alternate after the U.S. Women's Open Qualifying at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas on May 13. She shot 5-under 139 (67-72), which tied for the second-highest score at the qualifier. However, earlier this week, she learned she was in the field after another player dropped out.

The Philippines native will tee off in the first round at 11:52 am CT/12:52 pm ET on hole 10 on Thursday, playing in a group with Madison Young and Ssu Chia Cheng. The tournament is through Sunday.

Gabasa is one of 19 amateurs in the field of 156 players.

Gabasa helped the Bobcats win the Sun Belt Conference team championship this season and was named All-Sun Belt First Team. She played in 5 tournaments and scored for Texas State in 13 of the 14 rounds of stroke play. She was also 4-1 in match play.
