SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's golf officially earned its seventh all-time NCAA Regional bid – and first since 2016 – when the entire field for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships was announced on Wednesday.
Â
The Bobcats, who won both the individual and team Sun Belt Conference titles this year, will play in the Bryan, Texas Regional and at The Traditions Club golf course on May 6-8.
Â
The bid into the NCAA postseason is Texas State's first in eight years. Texas State participated in an NCAA Regional six times over a nine-year span from 2008 to 2016.
Â
Texas State, which entered Wednesday ranked No. 57 in the country, earned the NCAA Regional after completing the trifecta at the Sun Belt Conference Championship last week in Point Clear, Ala.: winning stroke play by 16 strokes, capturing the individual medalist honors (
Hailey Jones), and securing the program's fifth all-time team conference title with two wins in match play.
Â
This season, Texas State has finished top-four in four different tournaments, including two wins: Texas State Invitational and Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Â
In this year's regional play, six 54-hole regional competitions are held across the country to determine the teams for the championship finals. In each regional, 12 teams and six individuals not on those teams will compete. The top-five teams and the highest finishing individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals. Beginning this year, regional champion awards will be given to the team champions.
Â
In addition to Texas State's regional in Bryan, the 2024 NCAA Regionals will be held in Auburn, Ala. (Auburn University Club), Bermuda Run, N.C. (Bermuda Run Country Club), Las Vegas, Nev. (Spanish Trail Country Club), East Lansing, Mich. (Forest Akers Golf Course), and Cle Elum, Wash. (Tumble Creek Club).
