Homestand Wraps Up Tuesday Against UIW

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The current four-game homestand comes to a close on Tuesday when Texas State (20-21) hosts Incarnate Word (23-15) at 6 p.m. from Bobcat Ballpark.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats look to snap a two-game skid after dropping the last two contests of the series this weekend against South Alabama. In midweek games, TXST is 7-4 this season with a 4-3 record at home. This Tuesday will be the finale home midweek contest with the final two being played on the road.
 
Ryne Farber returned to the lineup this past weekend after missing the previous 14 games. He went 6-for-12 to raise his season batting average to .378. Kameron Weil is the only other player batting over .300 with a .322 average.
 
A team leading 13 doubles have been hit by Daylan Pena. The junior has also totaled 33 RBI, 25 runs scored and seven home runs. A team best nine round trippers have come off the bat of Aaron Lugo, who has driven in 30 runs and scored 40 times. Also with a team-high 33 RBI is Chase Mora.
 
Scheduled to start on Tuesday is Tony Robie. It will be his seventh start of the season and 38th in his career. For the season, the right-hander is 3-3 with a 7.71 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 30.1 innings of work.
 
ABOUT INCARNATE WORD
The Cardinals enter the game on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Northwestern State at home. They have also won eight of their last nine games with the lone loss being last Tuesday in San Antonio to Texas State. UIW is 4-7 in midweek games with a 1-4 record when playing on the road.
 
Dalton Beck is 10 in the nation with a .420 batting average. The Kansas State transfer has also recorded 12 home runs, 50 RBI, 44 runs and 16 doubles. Both Cameron Caley (8 HR, 50 R, 35 RBI) and Ryan Scott (6 HR, 42 R, 27 RBI) are hitting .355. Former Bobcat Ryder Hernandez is hitting .244 with nine doubles, 22 RBI and 16 runs in 28 games.
 
Tuesday's starter for the Cardinals has yet to be announced.
 
Earning a team best two saves has been Adam Byrd. The lefty is also 0-1 with a 3.48 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 20.1 innings in 13 games. Picking up a save apiece has been Dave Johnson (4-2, 5.26 ERA, 31 K), Luis Rodriguez (3.60 ERA, 11 K) and Westin Walls (2-4, 8.75 ERA, 20 K).
 
SERIES VS. THE CARDINALS
Texas State leads the all-time series 29-11. The Bobcats have won the last four meetings and 12 of the 15 since the start of the century. In the first contest between the teams this season, TXST hung on for a 10-8 as the Cardinals scored six in the ninth.
 
When facing UIW at home, Texas State is 22-7. Last season saw the Bobcats win 10-5 at Bobcat Ballpark to extend the home winning streak to 10 games. The Cardinals last win in San Marcos was an 8-1 contest on Feb. 8, 2000.
