POINT CLEAR, Ala. – For the first time since 2016, Texas State women's golf won the Sun Belt Conference team championship as the Bobcats beat Georgia Southern in the match play finals on Thursday at the Lakewood Club.
 
A year after finishing conference runner-up on a playoff hole, the Bobcats bounced back this season with the program's fifth overall conference title and second as a member of the Sun Belt.
 
Texas State put away Georgia Southern 3-0 in the match play finals in the afternoon. The Bobcats staved off Old Dominion in the semifinals, 3-0, in the morning to advance to the championship match.
 
The pair of match play wins capped a week in which the Bobcats won the stroke play portion of the tournament by 16 strokes, did not lose an individual match in match play, and claimed the individual medalist honors (Hailey Jones).
 
The Bobcats were double champions – individual and team – in 2016 as well.

With the win, Texas State earned the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships. The tournament's selection show will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 1 pm CT on the Golf Channel.
