Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In their 8
th run-rule win of the season, Texas State softball won 10-0 In six innings against UTSA on Wednesday night. A seven-run sixth inning was the decider in the run-rule victory.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was
Karmyn Bass who had three hits, two runs, two RBI and hit the Bobcats lone home run of the night.
Emilee Baker was also good for three RBI, two hits and two runs.
Megan Kelnar had three hits and two RBI on the night.
Jessica Mullins started and tossed 5.0 innings, striking out eight batters in the process. She got the win on the night improving to 23 on the season.
How it Happened
Hannah Earls led off with a walk to reach base for the 25th straight game. The Bobcats wouldn't put any more runners on, though, as Sydney Harvey lined out, Sara Vanderford fouled out and Anna Jones grounded out to first base.
Jessica Mullins started in the circle for the Bobcats, her 33rd of the season. She entered the game as the nation's leader in innings pitched with 179.0. She struck out the first batter, got a ground out and a fly out on the next two to get out of the inning facing three batters.
JJ Smith singled to right to get things started for the Bobcats in the 2nd, followed up by a Karmyn Bass home run to left center for two RBI. Megan Kelnar would single in the inning, but was left stranded by a Hannah Earls fly out.
Mullins added a second strikeout in the second.
The Bobcats loaded the bases in the third off a Jones, double, Smith being hit by a pitch and Bass singling through the left side. Zarate fouled out to strand the three runners, though.
In the top of the 4th, Emilee Baker led off with a triple to right field. She'd score on Kelnar's single up the middle on the next at-bat. They'd make it a 3-0 game headed to the bottom half of the inning.
Mullins struck out two batters in the bottom of the 4th inning.
The Bobcats got three runners on in the 5th inning, but were unable to add any runs to the board.

In the top of the 6th, the Bobcats were able to capitalize on errors early in the inning, scoring two runs on two errors, in part thanks to a Vanderford double. All the Bobcats runs to follow came with two outs. Then, Zarate came to bat with three runners on, scoring one of them on her RBI single. Baker would go on to follow that up with a 3 RBI double to left center. Kelnar followed that up with another RBI single, scoring Baker. The Bobcats put up seven runs on five hits while capitalizing on two errors in the 6th.
Maddy Azua came in to pitch the bottom half of the inning, getting two strikeouts in the process and preserving the shutout.
The Bobcats will return to play on Friday, April 19, in the first of three games against ULM in a conference series with the Warhawks.
