Bobcats Head to San Antonio to face UIW

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (18-19) continues its time on the road with a midweek game on Tuesday at Incarnate Word (20-14). The first pitch of the contest is slated for 2 p.m. from Sullivan Field.
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and fans can also catch the game on KTSW 89.9 FM with Brant Freeman on the call.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats salvaged the series at ULM with a 13-11 victory on Sunday that saw them score three runs in the ninth. Over the last 12 games, TXST has gone 3-9 with all three victories coming on the road. After Tuesday's game, the Bobcats will be back home for the first and only weekend series in San Marcos.
 
Daylan Pena heads into the game in San Antonio having reached base in 32 consecutive games, which is tied for the third longest in program history. The junior is batting .331 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 32 RBI. Chase Mora has also driven in 32 runs.
 
The only other regular hitting over .300 is Kameron Weil at .321. He has swiped five bases along with Aaron Lugo and Mora.
 
Tuesday's starting pitcher is still to be announced.
 
ABOUT INCARNATE WORD
The Cardinals enter the game on a five-game winning streak and are coming off a weekend sweep at McNeese. The first two wins came at Baylor and Rice. At home, UIW is 13-4 at home this season with a 3-2 mark in midweek games. Tuesday will be its first contest at Sullivan Field since a 7-4 loss to UTSA on Apr. 2.
 
Dalton Beck leads the team with a .429 average, the eight highest in the nation, 14 doubles, nine home runs and 42 RBI. Cameron Caley enters having drawn 41 walks, which ranks fifth in the country. The Baylor transfer is also batting .359 with 45 runs scored, eight homers and 35 RBI.
 
Ryan Scott is hitting .370 with 39 runs scored, 26 RBI and five round trippers. Both JD Gregson (11 2B, 8 HR, 25 RBI) and Grant Randall (25 R, 25 RBI, 4 3B) are hitting over .300 at .317 and .314, respectively.
 
The Cardinals starting pitcher for the game is still to be announced.
 
SERIES VS. THE CARDINALS
Texas State leads the all-time series 28-11. The Bobcats have won the last three meetings and 11 of the 14 since the start of the century. Last season, TXST won both matchups with a 10-5 win at home and a 12-8 victory in San Antonio.
 
When facing UIW on the road, the Bobcats are 5-4 all-time. The most recent loss was on Mar. 22, 2022 in a 4-2 contest. That was the Cardinals second straight win in the series after claiming a 6-1 ballgame on Mar. 19, 2019.
