Box Score HATTIESBURG, MS – Texas State women's tennis opened conference play on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Southern Miss. The Bobcats have now won seven games in a row, which is their largest winning streak in 12 years. Â
Texas State started off hot winning the doubles point and carried that momentum over to the singles portion of the match where they secured the three points needed to win the match 4-1. Â
DOUBLESÂ
Southern Miss took the first victory in doubles on court one when their duo Suhana Das and Alysa Richter defeated Texas State's Mae McCutcheon and Jadeh Chan 6-1.  Â
Sofia Fortuno and Maria Lora secured the first doubles win for the Bobcats on court two 6-3. This is the sixth doubles victory for the duo and they move to 6-1 on the year on court two. Â
The doubles point was secured on court No.3 when Emma Carr and Emily Niers defeated their opponent 6-4. Carr and Niers now have four doubles wins as a pair and only have one loss on the season.Â
SINGLESÂ Â
Andrea Pineda moved her winning streak to seven, when she defeated Southern Miss's Angelina Blinova in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 on court five. Pineda has now won her last four matches in straight set victories. Â
Southern Miss secured their first point on the match on court three when Das defeated Emily Niers 6-4, 6-2. Niers was on a four-match winning streak coming into Saturdays match and this was her first loss on court three this season. Â
On court four Sofia Fortuno won her match to move the overall score to 3-1. Fortuno won her match in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. She moves to six wins on the season and has recorded four straight set victories. Â
Maria Lora won the match point for the Bobcats on court No. 6, after she defeated the Golden Eagle's Malannia Vashkevich in three sets. Lora won the first set 6-0 and after dropping the second set 6-4, she won the final set 6-4 and secured the fourth point for the Bobcats. Â
Kiana Graham and Callie Creath's matches both went unfinished after the Bobcats secured the fourth point. On court one, Graham was in the third set of her match with a score of 3-3 after losing the first set 6-4 and winning the second set 7-5. Â
Creath was in her second set on court No. 2 when the Bobcats secured the fourth point. She had a one set lead after winning the first set 7-6(7-5). Â
The Bobcats are back at home next week to face conference foe Coastal Carolina on Saturday March 16th at 9Â a.m.Â
