Sun Belt Player of the Week Honor for Mora

NEW ORLEANS – Sophomore Chase Mora's big week was rewarded with him being named the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Week on Tuesday by the conference office. It is the second time he has received the honor in his career and the first this season.

In four games, Mora batted .438 (7-for-16) with three home runs and 11 RBI. He also posted a .500 OBP and 1.063 SLG%. The Tomball, Texas native hit a homer in three consecutive games, the first time a Bobcat has done so since Apr. 9-12, 2022 by Justin Thompson. Mora now has 20 homers to become the 19th player in TXST history to reach the mark in program history.

The second baseman started the week going 1-for-3 with a solo homer against Prairie View A&M. He followed with a 3-for-5 day at the plate with four RBI, one double and the walk-off two-run round tripper in the 10th inning in the first game of the Astros Foundation College Classic against Houston.

Mora followed with a 2-for-5 day at the plate with five RBI including a grand slam in Texas State's upset win over No. 15 Texas. He wrapped up his time at Minute Maid Park going 1-for-3 with one RBI and two walks versus No. 3 LSU on his way to being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

The second baseman and the rest of the Bobcats return to action tonight at 6 p.m. when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
